Walk the Talk by Dr. Keener
When is the last time that a doctor sat down with you and discussed the type and amount of exercise that you are doing? If you had to think about it, then it has been too long!
Research has shown us that the benefits of exercise include improving one’s blood pressure, reducing stress, and increasing one’s bone density just to name a few. It has also been proven that the recommended dose is 150 minutes of physical activity a week, can be broken into 30 minutes, five days a week. The 30 minutes a day can also be broken into different parts throughout the day and activities can range from walking, running, hiking, etc.
Exercise is a key part of staying healthy, however, it often goes overlooked because there is not enough time in a traditional visit to discuss the disease that is being diagnosed, the medicines that need to be prescribed, addressing questions and then on top of that trying to discuss lifestyle changes that can be done to help.
At EuDoc, our direct primary care model allows us to have more time with each of our patients and that goes a long way when discussing healthy lifestyle changes. We are able to sit down with our patients and discuss what they are currently doing and make recommendations simply because we have the time! By actually being able to make recommendations based on your current lifestyle, we are able to help treat or even prevent diseases with exercise. Our convenient way of being able to contact us through messaging allows our patients to send us links to exercises they might be considering and we can help determine if it would be a good fit based on their medical history.
When it comes to your health, you deserve to be given the information about all the ways that it can be treated and a key component of that is exercise!
